Are you passionate about navigating the evolving landscape of data-driven decision-making? Are you eager to lead a team in developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that drives success both externally and internally? We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill the role of the Head of Data. In this position, you will have the opportunity to guide our company in leveraging data to enhance our products, drive client value, and enhance internal operations. Working closely with our Chief Product Officer (CPO) and Management Team (MT), you will play a pivotal role in harnessing the power of data for strategic advantage. You will be reporting to our CTO. What you’ll bring
  • 10+ years of experience in data, analytics or data scientist roles
  • Seen the broad range of data engineering and analytics, from building your own databases, dashboarding, predictive analytics and setting up strategic reporting
  • Effectively led data/analytics teams for at least 5 years and teams of at least 4-6 people
  • Proven track record of creating and driving data and analytics projects with significant impact on the business
  • Business savvy: strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into actionable insights
  • Curious: the keen ability to synthesize across data, market, customer, and business inputs to develop insights and learnings to be used across the company
  • Experience in small to medium-sized organizations with tech-driven products and learned from great leaders what good looks like
  • Strategic thinking with a bias to action: Able to create a compelling long-term product strategy while delivering immediate impact and results
  • Demonstrated hands-on skills at a high proficiency level in:
  • SQL (Snowflake or other MPP warehouse preferred)
  • Data modeling and architecture (dbt or similar)
  • Business intelligence and insights (eg Tableau, PowerBI, Looker)

Your first year achievements
  • Strategy: develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the company's opportunities and needs which is both externally and internally focused
  • Externally (product): how can we leverage the data we collect, be strategic about what we want to collect in order to maximize client value (co-owner CPO)
  • Internally: how can we be optimally set up for clear and agile steering based on relevant and correct metrics & insights (co-owners: MT)
  • Execution: translate the strategy into a clear data roadmap, prioritizing projects based on stakeholder feedback and business objectives and proactively manage projects throughout the organization
  • With the strategy and priorities in mind:
  • Ensure high quality: implement processes and systems to ensure high-level of data quality across the organization, with shared definitions on metrics & KPIs, easy accessibility of data & insights and keeping stakeholders accountable for data quality and usage
  • Create scalable and solid infrastructure: implement data and tech best practices that enables efficient storage, processing and analysis, while working closely with tech to create guidelines on requirements for database creation and structures
  • Drive innovation: research, test and implement new technologies (e.g. AI) to automate tasks, enhance existing products or uncover new insights from existing data or processes
  • Team Leadership: Cultivate and support a high-performing team comprising data engineers, data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Support team on both development of technical and soft skills
  • Evangelism: drive a culture of data driven decision making, by actively building relationships with business stakeholders, understanding their challenges and providing insights and processes to create a data driven culture
